Responsible for greeting patients, managing appointments, handling check-ins/check-outs, and processing billing. They ensure smooth patient flow, maintain records in the Hospital Management System (HMS), handle phone inquiries, and provide administrative support, requiring strong communication, empathy, and multitasking skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Registration & Scheduling: Register new patients, update records, and schedule/reschedule appointments using hospital software.
- Reception & Communication: Greet visitors, answer multi-line phone calls, and direct inquiries to the appropriate department.
- Billing & Payments: Generate OPD/IPD bills, collect payments via cash/card/UPI, and handle billing inquiries.
- Patient Flow Coordination: Manage the waiting area, coordinate with nurses/doctors for patient, and inform staff of arrivals or delays.
- Administrative Tasks: Maintain confidentiality of records, manage office supplies, and assist with admission or discharge processes.
- Complaints Handling: Courteously resolve patient/visitor concerns.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer applications (MS Office) and Hospital Management Systems (HMS).
- Soft Skills: High level of patience, empathy, professionalism, and multitasking capability.
- Education/Experience: Usually a high school diploma or equivalent; previous experience in a medical setting is preferred.
