Job Summary
A Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in the kitchen and food service areas. They support chefs and kitchen staff by washing dishes, cleaning equipment, and ensuring sanitation standards are followed.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, counters, storage areas, and waste disposal sections
- Assist in cleaning refrigerators, ovens, exhausts, and other kitchen equipment
- Segregate and dispose of garbage properly
- Ensure hygiene and food safety standards are maintained
- Refill cleaning supplies and report shortages
- Support kitchen staff during busy operations
- Follow safety procedures and company policies
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of kitchen hygiene and sanitation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Physical stamina for standing and lifting
- Time management and attention to detail
Qualification
- High school pass or equivalent preferred
- Prior hotel/restaurant experience is an advantage
