Remote Process Safety / HAZOP Support Engineer – New Sites
A remote Process Safety / HAZOP Support Engineer is required to provide back-end technical and documentation support for HAZOP reviews on new client sites involving hydrogen, gas-processing and modular process systems.
The engineer will work with an international multidisciplinary engineering team, client-site personnel and the appointed HAZOP facilitator. The role is focused on preparing site-specific HAZOP material, developing credible preliminary scenarios, documenting workshop findings and managing actions through close-out.
Key responsibilities
- Review site-specific PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, control philosophies and operating information.
- Identify HAZOP nodes, design intent, operating parameters and system boundaries.
- Develop preliminary deviations, causes, consequences and existing safeguards.
- Prepare HAZOP worksheets and supporting workshop documentation.
- Support remote HAZOP workshops and accurately record discussions, findings and recommendations.
- Maintain the HAZOP action register, assign responsibilities and track outstanding actions.
- Coordinate technical responses from process, mechanical, piping, electrical, controls and site-operation personnel.
- Update documentation following design changes or workshop decisions.
- Support LOPA, SIL, fire-and-gas, ESD and pressure-relief reviews where required.
- Prepare final HAZOP reports, action-close-out packages and document-control records.
- Support Management of Change and Pre-Start-Up Safety Review activities.

Minimum requirements
- Engineering qualification in chemical, process, mechanical, controls or a related discipline.
- Practical HAZOP or process-safety experience within hydrogen, industrial gases, natural gas, oil and gas, chemical or modular process facilities.
- Strong understanding of PFDs, P&IDs, process controls, alarms, interlocks, ESD systems and operational safeguards.
- Experience preparing professional HAZOP documentation and action registers.
- Familiarity with North American process-safety codes and standards.
- Strong technical writing and professional-level English.
- Ability to work independently, manage several site packages and meet defined deadlines.
Working structure
This is a fully remote, part-time independent-contractor position. Site information will be provided through drawings, photographs, operating data, client representatives and regional site personnel.
The engineer will provide the back-end analysis, scenario development and documentation. Formal HAZOP conclusions must be established through the multidisciplinary review process and led or confirmed by the appointed HAZOP facilitator. Site-specific engineering changes will be reviewed and approved, where required, by the responsible regional P.Eng./PE.

Pay: ₹1,000.00 - ₹1,300.00 per hour
