Role Summary
The Project Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating integrated project schedules for the design, manufacture, and delivery of aerospace components. This role ensures alignment between engineering, procurement, and production teams to achieve project milestones efficiently and in compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Project Scheduling: Develop, maintain, and analyze detailed, resource-loaded project schedules using industry-standard project management software such as MS Project, or similar tools.
Coordination & Integration: Coordinate the planning activities of cross-functional teams, integrating inputs from design engineering, manufacturing, procurement, quality assurance, and supply chain management.
Performance Monitoring: Track project progress against baseline schedules, identify critical path activities, and forecast potential delays. Analyze production data (Earned Value Management principles) to report project performance metrics (CPI, SPI).
Risk Management & Mitigation: Proactively identify scheduling risks, resource constraints, and potential bottlenecks. Develop and implement mitigation plans and corrective actions to keep projects on track.
Resource Management: Work with department managers to define resource requirements (labor, materials, equipment, tooling) and ensure their availability aligns with project timelines.
Documentation & Reporting: Prepare regular project status reports, presentations, and dashboards for stakeholders and senior management. Maintain accurate documentation of all planning assumptions, changes, and approvals.
Compliance: Ensure all planning processes and project execution comply with rigorous aerospace industry standards and quality management systems (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
