Job Summary
The Placement Manager is responsible for leading the institution's placement and career services activities by building strong industry partnerships, securing placement and internship opportunities, and ensuring successful employment outcomes for students. The role includes managing the placement team, coordinating recruitment drives, developing employer relationships, and implementing strategies to enhance student employability.
Key ResponsibilitiesCorporate Relations
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers, recruiters, and industry partners.
- Identify and onboard new companies for campus recruitment.
- Negotiate placement and internship opportunities with organizations.
- Build long-term strategic partnerships with corporate stakeholders.
- Represent the institution at industry events, career fairs, and networking forums.
Placement Operations
- Coordinate recruitment schedules between employers, students, and academic departments.
- Ensure smooth execution of the end-to-end placement process.
- Monitor placement targets and implement strategies to improve placement rates.
Student Career Development
- Guide students on career planning and employment opportunities.
- Organize training programs on:
- Resume writing
- Interview techniques
- Group discussions
- Aptitude preparation
- Communication and soft skills
- Professional etiquette
- Ensure students are job-ready through employability initiatives.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and supervise Placement Officers and Placement Coordinators.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
- Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
Employer Engagement
- Increase the number of recruiting organizations each year.
- Maintain regular communication with recruiters to understand hiring needs.
- Collect employer feedback and implement improvements in placement services.
- Promote internship-to-employment pathways.
Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate placement records and employer databases.
- Prepare placement reports, dashboards, and performance analytics.
- Track key metrics such as:
- Placement percentage
- Internship conversion rate
- Average salary package
- Employer participation
- Student employment outcomes
- Present reports to senior management.
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure placement activities comply with institutional policies and procedures.
- Manage placement-related documentation, agreements, and offer records.
- Maintain confidentiality of employer and student information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Management, Education, or a related field.
- Master's degree (MBA/PGDM or equivalent) preferred.
- 5–8 years of experience in placement, recruitment, HR, talent acquisition, or corporate relations.
- Experience in higher education or training institutions is preferred.
