Rolling Arrays Technologies (RAT) is an enterprise HR-tech SaaS and services company that builds on SAP, Workday, and Oracle HCM platforms. RAT operates across three business motions: a growing SaaS product portfolio (Motion 1), a bespoke implementation-and-extension practice (Motion 2), and a newly forming diagnostic and analytics practice (Motion 3). With 40+ SaaS customers and 5 live bespoke projects, RAT is at an inflection point scaling from a product-led startup to a credible three-motion SaaS-plus-services company.
What You Will Own
- Technology direction, architecture, and platform investment decisions
- Engineering organisation structure, hiring, and performance
- Technical quality and delivery discipline across all three business motions
- Motion 3 technical build including the R7 diagnostic stack
- Partnership technical evaluation Skan.AI, CircleBack, Anthropic, SAP, Workday
Customer-facing technical conversations at CTO / CIO level
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Your time will be distributed across five areas:
1. Hiring and Team-Building (~25%)
- Recruit Product Leads (Motion 1), Technical Architects (Motion 2), FDEs (Motion 3), and Platform / Quality leads within the first 12 months
- Personally conduct final-round interviews for every senior technical hire
- Design interview rubrics and manage growth of the engineering leadership layer
2. Architecture and Technical Direction (~25%)
- Set multi-tenant architecture discipline tenant isolation, regression testing, canary rollout
- Own cross-product platform decisions (Reimburse, ePFile, ReeCap, Rover shared infrastructure)
- Approve architectural designs for new Motion 2 projects before customer commitment
- Design the Motion 3 R7 diagnostic stack Skan.AI, meeting-intelligence, and R7 framework integration
3. Quality, Delivery Discipline, and Fixing Current Problems (~20%)
- Drive down production defect escape rate through structural change not just process
- Stand up the Central Quality Engineering team and AI-first testing tooling
- Establish canary rollout, feature flags, and production observability infrastructure
- Eliminate the UAT-passes-production-fails pattern within 6 months
4. Motion 3 Technical Leadership (~15-20%)
- Lead the first 2-3 FDE diagnostic engagements, build the delivery playbook
- Evaluate Skan.AI and meeting-intelligence partnerships on technical merit
- Build the R7 interpretation layer select tooling, assign engineers, ship it
5. Executive Representation (~10-15%)
- Own customer-facing technical conversations at CTO / CIO level
- Support partnership conversations with Skan.AI, CircleBack, Anthropic, SAP, and Workday
Represent RAT's engineering credibility externally as the company grows
Must-Have Experience
- 15+ years in software engineering; 8+ years in engineering leadership (not only management)
- Has led engineering teams of 50-200 people at scale
- Has been the technology partner to a CEO or GM before not their first time at this level
- Has shipped multi-tenant SaaS products at production scale critical, not optional
- Enterprise software experience not a pure consumer-internet background
- HR tech domain exposure strongly preferred; finance-tech or legal-tech acceptable
Technical Skills
- Multi-tenant SaaS architecture tenant isolation, configuration, data model design
- Enterprise integration patterns APIs, event-driven design, auth and identity
- Cloud infrastructure at production scale — AWS, GCP, or Azure; cost and security discipline
- CI/CD, observability — feature flags, canary rollout, blue-green deployment
- AI / LLM engineering — working familiarity with agent frameworks, MCP, RAG, and eval frameworks
- Platform depth in at least one of: SAP BTP (deep preferred), Workday Extend, Oracle Cloud
Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹500,000.00 per month
