he In-Situ Machining Operator / Technician shall be responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and execution of portable machining equipment at customer sites. The role involves carrying out precision machining activities such as line boring, facing, drilling, milling, and related field machining operations on heavy industrial equipment.
The technician shall ensure safe execution of work while maintaining dimensional accuracy, quality standards, and project schedules.
Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Setup & Operation
- Assemble, align, and operate portable in-situ machining equipment.
- Set up line boring, facing, drilling, and milling machines at site.
- Install and align boring bars, bearings, supports, drive units, and accessories.
- Perform machine adjustments to achieve required tolerances.
Machining Activities
- Carry out in-situ line boring operations on shafts, housings, bearing seats, and structural bores.
- Perform flange facing, surface machining, drilling, tapping, and related field machining activities.
- Ensure machining dimensions conform to drawings and customer specifications.
- Maintain surface finish and tolerance requirements throughout machining operations.
Measurement & Inspection
- Use precision measuring instruments such as:
- Vernier calipers
- Micrometers
- Dial gauges
- Bore gauges
- Height gauges
- Record measurements before, during, and after machining.
- Assist in preparation of inspection reports and dimensional records.
Experience
- More than 5 years experience in machining, maintenance, fabrication, or heavy engineering industries.
- Experience in portable machining or line boring operations will be preferred.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Understanding of fits and tolerances.
- Knowledge of machining practices and cutting tools.
- Familiarity with hydraulic and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of portable machining equipment is desirable.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
