Job Description — Panchakarma Therapist
Key responsibilities
- Perform Purvakarma (Abhyanga, Swedana) and assist in Pradhanakarma (Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Nasya, Raktamokshana) as directed.
- Deliver Shirodhara, Pizhichil, Njavarakizhi, Kati/Janu basti, Udvartana and similar therapies to protocol.
- Prepare oils, decoctions and boluses to the specified formulation and temperature; test before application.
- Confirm contraindications with the physician; observe the patient throughout and stop and escalate on any adverse reaction.
- Give post-procedure care and advice (rest, diet, activity) as instructed.
- Clean and disinfect room, droni, linen and equipment between patients; follow infection-control and biomedical waste rules.
- Record each therapy accurately in the treatment chart and report observations to the physician.
- Monitor stock of oils, herbs and consumables; keep to the daily schedule.
- Work within scope: no diagnosing, prescribing or altering treatment. Maintain confidentiality.
Person specification
- Certificate/Diploma in Panchakarma Therapy from a recognised institution; state AYUSH registration where required.
- [1–3] years' hands-on Panchakarma experience.
- Knowledge of procedures, indications, contraindications, oils, Marma points, infection control.
- Physically fit for prolonged standing and manual work; available for rotating shifts including weekends.
- Compassionate, punctual, discreet, calm under pressure; first aid/BLS desirable.
