We are looking for a technically strong engineer to support the design, testing, documentation, validation, and approval of High & Medium Voltage Vacuum Circuit Breakers and related railway switchgear products.
The role involves understanding customer specifications and drawings, developing components and assemblies, preparing technical documents, coordinating testing, and supporting product approval activities.
1) Design & Engineering
* Study customer specifications, drawings, tender documents, and applicable standards.
* Develop and review components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies for VCBs and related switchgear.
* Prepare GA drawings, mounting arrangements, component drawings, electrical diagrams, pneumatic diagrams, wiring layouts, and assembly drawings.
* Work on VCB interfaces including operating mechanisms, vacuum interrupters, auxiliary contacts, control coils, pneumatic components, connectors, insulators, earthing, and surge protection arrangements.
* Ensure design suitability for railway rolling stock conditions such as vibration, shock, humidity, dust, rain, temperature variation, and outdoor roof-mounted duty.
* Identify technical ambiguities and coordinate clarifications with customers, consultants, vendors, and internal teams.
* Prepare clause-wise technical compliance statements and support design improvements, indigenisation, and value engineering.
2) Testing & Validation
* Prepare test plans, test protocols, inspection checklists, and test record formats.
* Coordinate prototype, type, routine, and acceptance testing as per applicable standards and customer requirements.
* Arrange testing with approved laboratories and inspection agencies.
* Coordinate sample readiness, fixtures, test equipment, drawings, and documentation.
* Prepare test reports, deviation reports, corrective action reports, and validation summaries.
* Support failure investigation, root cause analysis, field trials, and design corrections.
3) Documentation
* Prepare and maintain design calculations, drawings, BOMs, process sheets, work instructions, inspection plans, test records, maintenance manuals, operating manuals, spare parts lists, troubleshooting instructions, and customer approval documents.
* Prepare manufacturing reference documents such as assembly instructions, torque charts, wiring schedules, inspection checkpoints, and final inspection formats.
* Ensure all documents are revision-controlled and aligned with customer-approved drawings and specifications.
* Maintain traceability of design changes, test results, customer comments, and approval status.
4) Manufacturing & Quality Support
* Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, wiring, pneumatic fitting, and final inspection.
* Assist in preparing inspection criteria for bought-out components such as vacuum interrupters, insulators, auxiliary switches, connectors, control coils, pneumatic components, and hardware.
* Review supplier drawings, test certificates, material certificates, and inspection reports.
* Support troubleshooting of dimensional, wiring, leakage, operational, and test-related issues.
* Coordinate with vendors for component development and technical clarifications.
