Digital Platform Operations Specialist
ABB’s Process Automation business area enables customers to operate some of the world’s largest and most complex industrial infrastructures, helping them outrun – leaner and cleaner. We offer a broad range of automation, electrification and digital solutions for process, hybrid and maritime industries, including industry-specific integrated control and software as well as measurement and analytics solutions and services.
In this role, we are looking for a Support Engineer to join our Industrial Automation Digital Organization. The role requires an individual with strong experience supporting industrial software applications and automation systems, particularly in Asset Performance Management (APM), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), OPC communications, instrumentation, and industrial integrations. The candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting complex technical issues, supporting customer environments, and ensuring reliable operation of industrial solutions deployed across multiple industry segments.

You will be mainly accountable for:
- Provide technical support for Asset Performance Management (APM) solutions, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and industrial automation applications deployed across customer environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to OPC UA/DA communications, data acquisition systems, instrumentation, field devices, and industrial connectivity components.
- Perform root cause analysis for customer-reported incidents, identify corrective and preventive actions, and ensure timely issue resolution aligned with service expectations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product support, and deployment teams to validate configurations, integrations, and system deployments.
- Support Azure-based environments by assisting with basic cloud operational activities involving virtual machines, storage services, networking components, and monitoring capabilities.
- Participate in incident management processes, ticket handling, prioritization, escalation management, and maintenance of accurate technical documentation.
- Engage directly with customers to understand technical challenges, reproduce issues, provide updates, and deliver effective solutions with a customer-centric approach.
- Analyze system logs, performance metrics, and monitoring data to diagnose issues spanning software applications, hardware components, communication networks, and industrial devices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring issues, sharing operational insights, recommending best practices, and supporting knowledge management activities.
- Adapt support approaches to meet the operational requirements of diverse industrial sectors including oil and gas, marine, manufacturing, energy, and utilities.
- 4–8 years of experience in technical support, maintenance, or industrial application support roles involving APM, MES, SCADA, or industrial automation systems.
- Strong understanding of OPC UA/DA protocols, industrial communication architectures, SCADA systems, instrumentation, field devices, and sensor technologies.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services, including Virtual Machines, Storage Accounts, networking fundamentals, and monitoring solutions.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and debugging expertise with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose complex technical issues effectively.
- Experience working with application logs, monitoring tools, performance data analysis, and structured troubleshooting methodologies.
- Exposure to multiple industrial domains such as oil and gas, manufacturing, marine, energy, utilities, or process industries, with the ability to adapt to varied customer environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience interacting directly with customers and managing technical discussions professionally.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams in a dynamic support environment.
- Familiarity with incident management processes, ticketing systems, escalation procedures, and service support best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Instrumentation, Electronics, or related disciplines.
- Knowledge of Asset Performance Management analytics, vibration monitoring systems, predictive maintenance methodologies, or reliability engineering concepts.
- Understanding of databases, APIs, data integrations, and industrial system integration patterns.
- Exposure to DevOps practices, cloud monitoring tools, or operational support automation capabilities.
- Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification or equivalent cloud certifications are considered an advantage.
- Experience supporting enterprise industrial software solutions within global customer environments is desirable.
