We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Veterinary Lab Technician to join our clinical care team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in animal diagnostics by collecting, preparing, and analyzing biological samples. Your precise work will directly assist our veterinarians in accurately diagnosing health conditions and delivering high-quality care to our animal patients.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostic Testing & Sample Analysis
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests, including complete blood counts (CBC), chemistry panels, urinalysis, fecal examinations, and skin cytology.
- Prepare blood smears, tissue samples, and fluids for microscopic evaluation or external laboratory dispatch.
- Operate and maintain automated laboratory equipment (e.g., hematology analyzers, chemistry instruments, centrifuges).
Sample Management & Quality Control
- Collect biological samples (blood, urine, feces, skin scrapings) safely and humanely with minimal stress to the patient.
- Ensure proper sample handling, labeling, storage, and chain-of-custody for in-house and reference lab tests.
- Perform regular calibration, quality control checks, and maintenance on all lab machinery.
Record Keeping & Communication
- Log test results accurately into the hospital management software (PMS) in a timely manner.
- Communicate critical or panic lab values immediately to the attending veterinarian.
- Manage laboratory inventory, track reagent expiration dates, and place orders for supplies as needed.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain strict adherence to biosafety protocols, sanitation standards, and OSHA/local medical waste guidelines.
- Ensure proper disposal of biohazardous materials and sharps.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT/BMLT), Veterinary Technology, or a related biological science field.
- Experience: 1–3 years of hands-on experience in a veterinary or clinical diagnostic laboratory preferred (fresh graduates with strong clinical training are welcome to apply).
Skills:
- Proficiency in handling automated lab equipment and manual microscopic analysis.
- Strong understanding of veterinary anatomy, sample collection, and restraint techniques.
- Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency for electronic medical records (EMR).
- Attributes: Compassionate attitude toward animals, strong team spirit, and calm under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working specifically in companion animal (dogs, cats, small pets) practice.
- Familiarity with veterinary practice management software.
Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
