Your Role
You will be accountable for a team of HR professionals across India offices and will provide overall strategy, design, delivery, and management of the region’s HR programs and services (talent acquisition, team member experience, total rewards, talent development, etc.). You will be part of the India leadership team and APME Regional HR Community, reporting directly to the APME Regional HR Director, based in Singapore and partnering with the India Office Managing Directors.
This is a one-of a-kind opportunity for an experienced HR Leader, with a desire to understand the business of design and work with creative leaders to develop strategies that support our “people first” culture and cultivating exceptional experiences for our team members. Achieving this mission will enable the firm to attract, retain, and reward the design industry’s top talent and enhance and sustain Gensler’s innovative and entrepreneurial culture.
This role requires an individual with a strategic and growth mindset and a track record of bringing innovative talent strategies to reality. The individual must be a trusted advisor, with strength in building relationships across matrixed organizations and experience successfully managing multiple projects, budgets, and deadlines and working across all levels of leadership.
What You Will Do
People First
- Play a key role in leading the region’s talent strategies, acting as a strategic business partner, and change agent and enjoy being hands on
- Collaborate with the regional HR team as resources and partners (talent acquisition, talent development and benefits) to drive engagement, high performance and retention
- Provide guidance on people and organizational issues
- Continuously work to advance the people agenda and growth of the global firm
- Pro-actively translate business needs of the firm into people-oriented solutions, driving engagement
- Collaborate with the local and regional Talent Acquisition Leader to attract and retain top talent through employee engagement strategies
- Oversee leadership pipeline and succession planning activity for the region
- As needed, provide strategic consultation when entering new markets or restructuring of studios; lead hiring/onboarding of new leaders
Operations & Finance
- Partner with the India Financial Director, understanding the business from an operations and financial perspective and take actions that will improve/innovate people operations
- Participate in strategic planning across the India offices working with Office and Studio Leaders
- Manage recruiting and learning budget for India, working closely with Local and Regional Talent Acquisition and Talent Development
- Monitor productivity data, understand where to raise and address issues at the individual and studio level
- Coordinate with APME Regional HR Director and RMP Regional Operational Office (ROO) on annual compensation cycle (bonuses and merit base salary review) for best practices
- Be involved in staffing and other operational functions as appropriate
HR Design & Delivery
- Partner with Regional HR Team, develop effective recruiting, workforce planning, learning and talent development programs and initiatives
- Build the Gensler brand in the India market
- Lead and support the execution of HR and Talent programs, initiatives, tools and technologies, etc.
- Innovate on existing processes and procedures, active use of AI to drive efficiency and share successes with other regions and offices
- Handle Employee Relations (ER) issues promptly and discreetly; recommend appropriate options to leaders when dealing with ER in line with Gensler policies and guidelines
- Counsel leaders through the Professional Development Program, Appointments/Promotions, and Developmental Reviews
- Continue to expand knowledge of employment laws in the India market to ensure compliance and support the limitation of liability for Gensler
Team Leadership/Building
- Build a robust and fully functional HR team
- Drive team engagement and HR effectiveness
- Lead, develop and coach/mentor the local HR team
Build the HR team to a business partner level offering strategic and operational support

Your Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Human Resources or related field required.
- Recognized HR certification required
- 12+ years’ experience in Human Resources with demonstrated strategic and operational knowledge of core HR fundamentals, including business partnering, hiring, training, compensation.
- Sound legislative knowledge of India employment law.
- Proven success in overseeing employee lifecycle (recruiting, onboarding, performance management, talent development, talent management, etc.)
- Experience building and implementing HR programs from the ground up or transforming an HR organization to best in class status.
- Experience in coaching team members.
- Experience as part of a team that scaled or grew a business.
- Strong business acumen and a proven record of partnering with and influencing all levels of leadership across the firm to design and implement effective HR programs and services.
- Ability to measure and track HR effectiveness through use of key metrics and measures.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and Emotional Intelligence capabilities.
- Agile and thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
