Job Title: Ward In-Charge (GNM)
Department: Nursing
Reports To: Nursing Superintendent / Manager- Nursing
Location: Siliguri, West Bengal
Job Overview:
The Ward In-Charge (GNM) is responsible for supervising and coordinating all nursing activities within the assigned ward/unit to ensure quality patient care, discipline, smooth workflow, and compliance with hospital protocols. The role includes managing nursing staff, maintaining ward operations, and ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Clinical Supervision
- Ensure delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centric nursing care.
- Monitor patient condition and ensure timely nursing interventions.
- Supervise medication administration and treatment procedures as per doctor’s instructions.
- Ensure proper infection control and patient safety protocols are followed.
- Handle patient and attendant concerns professionally.
Nursing Staff Supervision
- Supervise and guide staff nurses, nursing assistants, and ward attendants.
- Prepare and manage nursing duty rosters and shift allocations.
- Monitor punctuality, discipline, grooming, and professional conduct of nursing staff.
- Conduct on-floor training and orientation for new nursing employees.
- Evaluate nursing staff performance and provide feedback.
Ward Administration & Communication
- Ensure proper maintenance of ward records and documentation.
- Maintain ward inventory, medicines, and consumables.
- Coordinate with pharmacy, housekeeping, biomedical, and other departments.
- Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and smooth ward functioning.
- Prepare reports and submit them to management as required.
Documentation & Compliance
- Ensure accurate maintenance of nursing records, patient files, reports, and registers.
- Maintain NABH or other healthcare accreditation standards as applicable.
- Monitor biomedical waste management practices.
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, nursing protocols, and statutory guidelines.
Emergency & Critical Situations
- Respond promptly during medical emergencies and code situations.
- Ensure emergency preparedness within the ward.
- Support disaster management and emergency response protocols.
Eligibility Criteria:
- GNM from a recognized institution.
- Valid Nursing Council Registration.
- Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience in a multi-speciality hospital.
- Prior supervisory preferred.
Required Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of hospital protocols and patient care standards.
- Ability to handle emergencies and work under pressure.
- Basic computer knowledge and hospital management software understanding.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
