Position: Music Teacher / Performing Arts Teacher (Music)
Department: Performing Arts / Co-curricular Activities
Reports To: Principal / Activity Coordinator / HOD Performing Arts
Job Summary
A Music Teacher is responsible for teaching vocal and/or instrumental music to students, developing their musical skills, rhythm, appreciation, and performance ability. The role includes training students for school events, competitions, assemblies, and cultural programs while fostering creativity and discipline in music.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach music to students, including:
- Vocal music (classical, semi-classical, light music, and school songs)
- Instrumental music (harmonium, keyboard, tabla, guitar, etc. depending on expertise)
- Train students in rhythm, pitch, melody, and voice modulation.
- Conduct regular music practice sessions and group rehearsals.
- Prepare students for school assemblies, annual functions, and cultural events.
- Compose or arrange music for school programs and performances.
- Select appropriate songs and musical pieces for events.
- Maintain discipline and coordination during practice sessions.
- Guide students for inter-school competitions and music events.
- Maintain musical instruments and related equipment.
- Participate in school cultural programs, PTMs, and meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Degree/Diploma in Music (Vocal/Instrumental) or Performing Arts preferred.
- Formal training in Hindustani/Carnatic Classical Music or Western Music is an advantage.
- Certification in instruments (if applicable) preferred.
- Strong musical knowledge and performance skills.
Experience
- Fresher or 1–5 years of teaching/performance experience preferred.
- Experience in school music programs, stage performances, or orchestras is an advantage.
