Job Summary
Looking for an experienced AutoCAD Draughtsman – Mechanical for the AMC of Reverse Engineering Services at the 1740 MW BALCO Power Plant, Korba.
The candidate must have at least 3 years of hands-on experience in the reverse engineering of mechanical components within a power plant. The role involves taking accurate measurements of existing mechanical components at the plant, studying their construction and preparing detailed AutoCAD drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit different areas of the power plant to inspect and study existing mechanical components.
- Take accurate site measurements using suitable measuring instruments.
- Develop detailed mechanical drawings through the reverse-engineering process.
- Convert physical components, measurements and site sketches into accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings.
- Prepare component, assembly and fabrication drawings as per site requirements.
- Add appropriate dimensions, tolerances, annotations and technical details to drawings.
- Check drawing accuracy against actual site measurements before final submission.
- Revise and update drawings based on technical feedback from the site engineering team.
- Maintain proper drawing numbers, revision history and drawing records.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports of completed drawings along with an updated Excel tracking sheet.
- Coordinate with maintenance, mechanical and site engineers for technical clarification.
- Follow BALCO/Vedanta safety, EHS, security and permit-to-work requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of all plant drawings, technical information and operational data.
Required Qualifications
- ITI in Draughtsman Mechanical, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in mechanical reverse engineering within a thermal power plant.
- Strong hands-on proficiency in AutoCAD 2D drafting.
- Experience in taking physical measurements of mechanical components at an operating plant.
- Ability to use measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes and angle-measuring tools.
- Ability to read, understand and prepare mechanical, fabrication and assembly drawings.
- Basic knowledge of dimensional tolerances, fits, materials and manufacturing processes.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for maintaining drawing records and monthly reports.
- Ability to work independently inside an operational power plant.
- Good coordination, documentation and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Previous working experience at BALCO or any large thermal power plant.
- Knowledge of GD&T and standard engineering drawing practices.
- Experience in the reverse engineering of worn-out, obsolete or unavailable mechanical components.
- Ability to prepare drawings suitable for fabrication or component development.
Mandatory Requirements
- Candidates must be willing to work full-time at the BALCO Power Plant in Korba.
- The selected candidate must complete the required pre-employment medical examination, police verification, safety induction and gate-pass formalities.
- The candidate must strictly comply with all plant safety and PPE requirements.
- Supporting documents related to qualification and previous power-plant experience will be verified.
