Job Purpose
The Senior Manager - Operations is responsible for planning, managing, and optimizing end-to-end warehouse operations to ensure efficient inventory management, timely order fulfillment, cost control, compliance, and operational excellence. The role focuses on improving productivity, maintaining high safety standards, and leading warehouse teams to achieve business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage overall warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory management, dispatch, and returns.
- Develop and implement warehouse strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensure timely and accurate inbound and outbound movement of materials.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and physical stock verification.
- Monitor warehouse KPIs such as inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, productivity, dispatch turnaround time, and customer service levels.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, SOPs, statutory requirements, and safety standards.
- Optimize warehouse space utilization and material handling processes.
- Implement Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Production, Sales, Logistics, and Customer Service teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Manage third-party logistics (3PL) partners and warehouse service providers.
- Oversee warehouse budgeting, cost control, and resource planning.
- Ensure proper maintenance of warehouse equipment, racking systems, and infrastructure.
- Lead investigations into inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare and present MIS reports and operational dashboards to senior management.
- Drive digital initiatives, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP, barcode, and RFID implementation.
- Develop contingency plans for business continuity and risk management.
People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop warehouse managers, supervisors, and operational staff.
- Conduct performance appraisals and identify training and development needs.
- Build a high-performance and safety-focused work culture.
- Manage manpower planning, shift scheduling, and workforce productivity.
- Drive employee engagement and ensure adherence to disciplinary procedures.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, EHS guidelines, and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of materials as per industry standards.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of observations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Engineering, or Commerce.
- MBA/Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain or Operations Management is preferred.
Experience
- 10–15 years of progressive experience in warehouse and logistics operations.
- Minimum 5 years in a managerial leadership role overseeing large warehouse operations.
- Experience in FMCG, Manufacturing, E-commerce, Retail, Logistics, or 3PL environments is preferred.
