The Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the complete production process of designer garments and fashion products. The role ensures timely execution of orders, maintains quality standards, manages vendors and artisans, controls production costs, and ensures on-time deliveries to clients, retailers, and marketplaces.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Planning & Coordination
- Prepare production schedules based on purchase orders and sales forecasts.
- Coordinate with the design, merchandising, and sampling teams for smooth production flow.
- Monitor daily production activities and ensure timely completion of orders.
- Allocate work to tailors, karigars, embroidery units, and production staff.
Quality Control
- Ensure garments meet brand quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct quality checks at cutting, stitching, finishing, and packing stages.
- Resolve production and quality issues promptly.
- Minimize defects, rework, and production losses.
Vendor & Supplier Management
- Coordinate with fabric suppliers, dyeing units, embroidery vendors, and job workers.
- Track raw material procurement and inventory availability.
- Negotiate production timelines and ensure adherence to commitments.
Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels of fabrics, trims, accessories, and packaging materials.
- Coordinate with the inventory team for material issuance and consumption tracking.
- Prevent shortages and excess inventory.
Order & Delivery Management
- Track all customer and wholesale orders from production to dispatch.
- Ensure timely delivery to multi-designer stores, e-commerce platforms, and clients.
- Coordinate dispatch schedules with logistics partners.
Team Management
- Supervise production staff and workers.
- Train and motivate team members to improve productivity.
- Monitor attendance, performance, and efficiency of production teams.
Cost & Process Control
- Monitor production costs and optimize resource utilization.
- Reduce wastage and improve operational efficiency.
- Prepare production reports and MIS for management review.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Fashion Technology, Apparel Production, Textile Management, or related field.
- 3–8 years of experience in garment production, fashion manufacturing, or designer wear production.
- Experience handling ethnic wear, couture, bridal wear, or luxury fashion production preferred.
