Role Overview
We are looking for a Data Governance Engineer to support the implementation and adoption of data governance practices across the organization. The role will focus on data quality, metadata management, data catalog maintenance, and governance process execution to improve data trust and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation of data governance policies, standards, and data stewardship processes.
- Configure and maintain enterprise data catalog solutions and metadata repositories.
- Perform data profiling and implement data quality checks across critical datasets.
- Develop and maintain data quality rules, validation processes, and monitoring dashboards.
- Assist in metadata enrichment, lineage documentation, and business glossary management.
- Collaborate with data engineering and business teams to improve data quality and governance adoption.
- Support data classification, access control reviews, and compliance initiatives related to sensitive data.
- Prepare governance reports, data quality scorecards, and compliance metrics.
Required Skills
- 4–7 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Quality, Data Governance, or related domains.
- Strong SQL skills for data analysis, profiling, and validation.
- Python experience for automation, data quality checks, and governance workflows.
- Experience with data quality tools such as Great Expectations, Informatica Data Quality, or similar solutions.
- Knowledge of metadata management and data catalog tools such as DataHub, Amundsen, Collibra, or Alation.
- Understanding of Snowflake or Databricks data platforms.
- Familiarity with data governance concepts including data ownership, stewardship, metadata, lineage, and data quality.
- Basic understanding of GDPR, PII handling, and data classification principles.
Good to Have
- Experience with dbt, Apache Iceberg, or modern data platforms.
- Exposure to Unity Catalog or cloud data governance capabilities.
- Understanding of Data Mesh concepts and federated data ownership models.
- Experience creating governance dashboards and quality scorecards.
