Role Overview
As an Investment Banking Associate, you will support the end-to-end execution of fundraising and strategic capital transactions for startups and growth-stage companies. Your responsibilities will include deal sourcing, founder engagement, investment analysis, preparation of fundraising materials, investor mapping and outreach, coordination of due diligence, transaction management, and deal closure support.
You will work directly with startup founders, Venture Capital firms, Family Offices, Angel Investors, institutional investors, legal advisors, and internal leadership to ensure each transaction is professionally managed, commercially sound, and progressed with discipline and urgency.
Key ResponsibilitiesDeal Sourcing & Origination
· Identify and source high-potential startups and growth-stage companies seeking equity, venture debt, strategic capital, or other fundraising support.
· Build and maintain a strong pipeline of investible opportunities through founder networks, Venture Capital firms, Family Offices, accelerators, incubators, industry associations, and ecosystem partners.
· Conduct preliminary screening of opportunities based on sector, business model, traction, funding stage, ticket size, and overall investment readiness.
· Support the origination of fundraising mandates and maintain regular engagement with prospective founder clients.
Founder & Investor Engagement
· Conduct direct and professional conversations with startup founders to understand their business, fundraising requirement, use of funds, valuation expectations, timelines, and strategic objectives.
· Engage with Venture Capital funds, Family Offices, Angel Networks, Corporate Venture Capital teams, and institutional investors to understand their investment thesis, sector preferences, stage focus, ticket size, and decision-making process.
· Build trusted working relationships with founders, investors, CXOs, and other transaction stakeholders.
Financial Analysis & Valuation
· Analyze business models, historical financial statements, management projections, unit economics, revenue drivers, margins, cash flows, cap tables, and key operating metrics.
· Build, review, and update financial models, business forecasts, valuation schedules, and fundraising scenarios.
· Apply relevant valuation methodologies, including comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, Discounted Cash Flow, and venture capital valuation approaches.
Fundraising Materials & Investor Outreach
· Prepare and refine pitch decks, investment teasers, information memoranda, financial summaries, management presentations, and investor briefing materials.
· Develop targeted investor lists based on sector, stage, geography, ticket size, portfolio fit, and investment mandate.
· Support personalized investor outreach and communicate the investment opportunity clearly and persuasively.
Transaction Execution & Deal Closure
· Manage live fundraising assignments from mandate signing and investor outreach through term-sheet discussions, due diligence, definitive documentation, and closure.
· Drive timely follow-ups with founders and investors to maintain momentum and prevent delays in the deal process.
Due Diligence & Documentation
· Conduct preliminary financial and commercial due diligence on prospective transactions.Review pitch decks, business plans, financial records, cap tables, shareholder information, customer data, legal documents, and other supporting materials.
· Coordinate data-room preparation, investor information requests, management responses, and due diligence meetings.
Pipeline Management, Reporting & Collaboration
· Maintain accurate and current records of sourced opportunities, active mandates, investor outreach, meetings, deal stages, and closure probability in the CRM and internal trackers.
· Prepare periodic reports on deal sourcing, founder engagement, investor meetings, transaction progress, conversion rates, and expected closures.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Commerce, Management, or a related discipline.
· MBA, Master's degree, Chartered Accountant, CFA, ACCA, or another relevant finance qualification is preferred.
· Candidates from reputed Indian or international institutions will be given preference.
Experience Requirements
· 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in Investment Banking, Venture Capital, Private Equity, Family Office, Transaction Advisory, Corporate Finance, Startup Fundraising, or a closely related field.
· Hands-on experience in speaking with and managing relationships with startup founders, Venture Capital professionals, Family Office representatives, and senior investment stakeholders is mandatory.
· Demonstrated experience in deal sourcing, transaction origination, investor outreach, pipeline management, and supporting deals through closure.
· Experience preparing pitch decks, financial models, valuation analyses, investment notes, and due diligence materials.
· Prior exposure to live equity fundraising, venture debt, mergers and acquisitions, or strategic capital transactions will be an added advantage.
· Experience working across multiple startup sectors or within an accelerator, incubator, investment platform, or advisory firm will be beneficial.
Required Skills
· Strong financial analysis, financial modelling, valuation, and investment research capabilities.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to engage founders, investors, CXOs, and senior decision-makers.
· Sound understanding of startup fundraising, venture capital, cap tables, dilution, term sheets, due diligence, and transaction processes.
· Strong deal-sourcing, relationship-management, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
· Strong organizational and project-management skills with disciplined tracking of deadlines and action items.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Google Workspace, CRM systems, and financial or investor databases.
· High ethical standards, professional integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality.
Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹500,000.00 per year
