A Civil Quality Control (QC) Engineer in construction ensures that all site activities, materials, and workmanship comply with approved drawings, technical specifications, and international standards. Key duties include conducting inspections (RFI), performing material tests (e.g., concrete, soil, steel), managing non-conformance reports (NCR), and maintaining documentation. They play a critical role in preventing defects through proactive monitoring.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Site Inspections & Monitoring: Conducting regular site inspections to ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, method statements, and project specifications.
- Material Testing & Quality Control: Sampling and testing construction materials (soil, aggregate, concrete, steel) to verify compliance before and during usage.
- Documentation & Reporting: Preparing and maintaining daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports, checklists, and inspection records.
- Non-Conformance Management: Identifying, documenting, and resolving non-conforming work by issuing NCRs and verifying corrective actions.
- Inspection and Test Plans (ITP): Implementing and following the Project Quality Plan and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Coordination & Compliance: Working closely with project managers, consultants, and contractors to ensure safety protocols and quality standards are met.
Specific Tasks
- Conducting slump tests, taking concrete cubes for compressive strength, and performing silt tests.
- Checking reinforcement bar (rebar) fabrication, layout, and placement prior to concrete pouring.
- Verifying structural alignment, plastering quality, and waterproofing.
- Performing final inspections for project handover to the client.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of ASTM, ISO, or relevant local building codes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder management.
- Minimum 6 to 10 years Experience in Civil Constructions.
