Key Responsibilities
- Provide network operations support for corporate infrastructure, following established corporate networking practices and blueprints.
- Log, track, and resolve tickets through ConnectWise, ensuring timely closure and accurate documentation.
- Enforce Corporate Operations standards and support Corp Ops priorities and initiatives, including participation in the weekly Corp Ops group call.
- Support Client Operations as sales grow — including ConnectWise ticketing, enforcement of Client Ops standards, and the weekly Client Ops group call.
- Partner with Engineering/Development (via Corp Ops) to implement new network architecture and standards across the India Production, Pre-Production, and Development networks.
- Continuously learn new networking concepts, adopt corporate best practices, and set aside (while retaining knowledge of) prior competitor-specific practices.
- Set up and maintain HA redundancy to ISPs/MSPs following best practices.
Required Skills & Competencies
Switching & Routing
- Layer 2 vs. Layer 3 switching — the differences, how to use each, and where each applies.
- VLANs and general routing.
- Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF (internal and external).
Firewalls / Platforms
- Hands-on experience with Cisco.
- IPSec Tunneling / Troubleshooting
- Expert in Subnetting, VLAN configuration & NAT
- OpenVPN setup
OS & Networking
- Strong Unix/Linux administration. (A candidate strong in Unix/Linux is expected to pick up Windows quickly.)
- Understanding of core networking config files and how they work together: /etc/hosts, /etc/nsswitch.conf, /etc/resolv.conf, and /etc/rc.conf (FreeBSD).
- Command-line networking proficiency.
Protocols & Services
- Working knowledge of SSH, NTP, DNS, and HTTP/HTTPS.
- Log shipping / telemetry.
Connectivity & Physical Layer
- Setting up HA redundancy to ISP/MSP, with an understanding of last-mile considerations.
- Familiarity with physical media: RJ-45 (copper) and fiber optic (10G, 20G, 40G).
Nice to Have
- Additional firewall/security platforms: pfSense, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and/or Check Point.
- Windows networking administration.
- Network architecture design and best practices — candidates with architecture experience are highly valued and may command a higher salary band.
