The STP/WTP Operator is responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) and Water Treatment Plants (WTP). The role ensures smooth plant operations, optimum treatment efficiency, compliance with regulatory standards, and adherence to safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor STP/WTP units, including aeration systems, filtration units, chemical dosing systems, sludge handling, and disinfection processes.
- Monitor plant parameters and equipment performance to ensure treated water quality meets prescribed standards.
- Maintain daily log sheets, operational records, and shift reports.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for preventive and breakdown maintenance of pumps, blowers, motors, valves, and other equipment.
- Identify mechanical and electrical issues and report/escalate them to the concerned authority.
- Ensure timely maintenance and smooth functioning of plant machinery.
- Supervise plant operators and technicians during assigned shifts.
- Ensure proper manpower utilization and shift planning.
- Follow and enforce safety procedures and operational guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with CPCB/SPCB norms and environmental regulations.
- Collect water and wastewater samples and maintain laboratory records.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on plant performance, chemical consumption, equipment breakdowns, and manpower deployment.
- Maintain documentation required for inspections, audits, and statutory compliance.
