Job Summary
We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Purchase Mechanical Engineer to manage procurement activities for our gear manufacturing unit. The candidate should have experience in sourcing mechanical components, raw materials, vendor development, price negotiation, and purchase order management. Knowledge of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing & Procurement: Procure raw materials, mechanical components, consumables, and subcontracted items required for production.
Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and develop new vendors for cost-effective purchasing. Maintain accurate vendor records, purchase documentation, and procurement reports.
Negotiation & Pricing: Obtain quotations, compare prices, and negotiate commercial terms with suppliers to achieve cost reduction by analyzing market trends.
Order Management: Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure timely delivery of materials. Follow up with suppliers for on-time delivery and resolve any supply-related issues.
Internal Coordination:
Coordinate with Production, Planning, Stores, and Quality departments for procurement requirements.
Coordinate with accounts for invoice verification and payment follow-ups.
Inventory & Quality Control: Monitor inventory levels to maintain optimum stock availability. Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and quality standards.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Knowledge: Sound knowledge of mechanical components, steel grades, bearings, gears, shafts, castings, forgings, and machining processes. Understanding of engineering drawings and specifications is highly preferred.
Commercial Skills: Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
Software Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP software, and internet-based sourcing.
Soft Skills: Good communication and coordination abilities, with the ability to work independently and handle multiple suppliers.
Educational Qualification
Degree: B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Industry Experience: 2 to 4 years of experience in Purchase/Procurement within a manufacturing environment, preferably in Gear, Gearbox, Machine Tool, or Engineering Industry.
