Join our COWI’s Buildings MEP team in Chennai (Hybrid - Office/Home) and help deliver high-quality HVAC, Plumbing, and Drainage systems design on some of the most prestigious Data centre projects and Buildings Industry projects in Scandinavia.
As we expand our footprint in the rapidly growing data centre sector, you will help shape the digital infrastructure of tomorrow, delivering resilient, sustainable, and high-performance mechanical solutions on complex, mission critical projects.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Design and specify Mechanical systems for data centres and buildings using relevant software tools and standards.
- Prepare detailed design documentation, calculations and drawings for statutory and authority submissions.
- Participate in client, consultant and technical coordination meetings.
- Support project development from early concept stages through design, tender and construction.
- Collaborate with colleagues across engineering, architecture, sustainability and environmental advisory.
- Support model layout development (equipment, ducting, piping), schematics, basic system diagrams and update project content in Revit MEP both with your own initiative and in collaboration with our skilled BIM team.
- Able to work effectively both on your own and within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Ensure quality and compliance with COWI’s QA/QC processes, to maintain organized documentation and drawing revision.

On top of that, you should have:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 8–10 years of experience in M&E building and data centre consultancy. Solid experience in data centre mechanical design is essential.
- Data centre mechanical design, including Tier standards, redundancy, utilities, and IT infrastructure.
- Extensive expertise in HVAC design calculations using HAP or similar software and plumbing design calculations, equipment selections, duct / pipe sizing and pressure loss calculations.
- Experience in plumbing design, including domestic water and drainage systems.
- Solid understanding of international mechanical design codes and standards, with practical experience in AutoCAD and Navisworks. Working knowledge of Revit is required. MagiCAD and Bluebeam experience are added advantages.
- Solid English communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in global teams and meet project deadlines.
- Building performance simulation software IES VE software and energy modelling software experiences are an added advantage.
