Madurai-based manufacturing group, is seeking a detail-driven Cost Accountant to own product costing, inventory valuation, and margin analysis across our operations. You will be the link between the plant floor and the finance function — turning production data into costing insight that guides pricing, budgeting, and profitability decisions. This is a hands-on role with direct visibility to senior management and scope to grow into a costing leadership position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and refine product costing and standard costs across all product lines, including bill-of-material (BOM) and routing accuracy
- Perform monthly cost variance analysis (material, labour, and overhead) and explain deviations from standard to management
- Value inventory (raw material, WIP, and finished goods) and reconcile physical stock with book records; support periodic stock audits
- Allocate manufacturing overheads and compute accurate cost of goods manufactured and sold
- Prepare and maintain records for statutory Cost Audit and Cost Records as required under the Companies Act / ICMAI norms
- Analyse product-wise and customer-wise profitability; flag loss-making lines and cost-saving opportunities
- Support the annual budgeting and forecasting cycle with cost inputs and capacity/utilisation analysis
- Ensure GST and other indirect-tax touchpoints relevant to costing and inventory are correctly captured
- Prepare monthly costing MIS and dashboards for management review
- Partner with production, procurement, and stores teams to improve cost data accuracy and drive efficiency
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- CMA (Institute of Cost Accountants of India) — qualified, or semi-qualified with strong relevant experience
- 3–6 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing company (matches, FMCG, chemicals, or similar preferred)
- Strong grasp of standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and overhead absorption
- Working knowledge of Cost Audit requirements and maintenance of cost records
- Proficiency in Tally / Zoho Books / SAP (or comparable ERP) and advanced MS Excel
- Sound understanding of GST as it applies to manufacturing and inventory
- High accuracy, analytical mindset, and ability to translate numbers into clear recommendations
Preferred:
- Experience in a Madurai / Tamil Nadu manufacturing setup
- Exposure to plant-level costing and shop-floor data collection
- Working proficiency in Tamil alongside English for shop-floor coordination
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
