Mid-Level Inventory Controller – Retail Footwear Group
Managed end-to-end inventory operations for a multi-store retail footwear business, including inventory planning, stock allocation, replenishment, procurement support, inter-store stock transfers, and new store launch execution. Analyzed sales trends and stock movement to identify product requirements, optimize purchase planning, and ensure the right product assortment, size mix, color range, and quantity allocation across stores. Collaborated with merchandising, procurement, logistics, warehouse, and retail operations teams to improve inventory utilization, maximize product availability, reduce stock-outs, and enhance overall inventory performance.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain optimum inventory levels across retail stores and warehouses to ensure maximum product availability while minimizing stock-outs, overstock, and aged inventory.
- Monitor inventory accuracy through regular stock audits, cycle counts, reconciliations, and variance analysis, ensuring accurate stock records within the ERP system.
- Analyze sales trends, stock movement, sell-through performance, seasonal demand, and inventory turnover to support effective inventory planning and decision-making.
- Support the procurement and merchandising teams by identifying product requirements based on historical sales trends, market demand, store performance, and seasonal buying plans.
- Assist in purchase planning and replenishment by recommending appropriate order quantities to maintain healthy stock coverage while reducing excess inventory.
- Manage store allocation and replenishment processes to ensure the right product, right size, right color, and right quantity are distributed to each store according to demand patterns and store-specific requirements.
- Perform size profiling, assortment planning, and allocation analysis to optimize inventory investment and maximize sales opportunities.
- Coordinate and execute inter-store and inter-branch stock transfers based on stock movement analysis, sales performance, stock availability, and replenishment needs to improve inventory utilization across the network.
- Monitor slow-moving, non-moving, and excess inventory and implement corrective actions through stock redistribution, promotions, and clearance strategies.
- Lead inventory planning and stock allocation for new store launches, including opening stock requirements, assortment planning, size breakdowns, allocation strategies, and coordination with merchandising, procurement, logistics, and store operations teams to ensure successful store openings.
- Track post-launch store performance and adjust inventory allocations to support sales targets and customer demand.
- Prepare and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly inventory, allocation, replenishment, and stock movement reports, providing actionable insights to management.
- Support promotional events, seasonal launches, markdown activities, and special campaigns through effective inventory planning and stock deployment.
- Collaborate closely with Procurement, Merchandising, Warehouse, Logistics, Finance, and Retail Operations teams to ensure smooth inventory flow and business continuity.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in inventory control, allocation processes, replenishment planning, and stock optimization practices.
- 2-4 year Experience.
