Role Summary
Responsible for delivering excellent customer service by taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring guests have a positive dining experience. Acts as the main point of contact between the kitchen and customers.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service:
- Greet and seat customers promptly with a friendly, professional manner
- Present menus, explain daily specials, and answer questions about ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods
- Take accurate food and drink orders using POS system or order pad
- Check on guests during meals to ensure satisfaction and address any issues quickly
- Handle complaints with tact and escalate to management when needed
Service & Operations:
- Serve food and beverages in correct order and at appropriate temperature
- Set up, clear, and reset tables according to restaurant standards
- Maintain knowledge of menu items, promotions, wine list, and upselling opportunities
- Coordinate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely service and order accuracy
- Process payments, operate tills, and handle cash/card transactions accurately
Hygiene & Safety:
- Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations, including HACCP standards
- Keep service areas, stations, and tables clean and sanitized throughout shift
- Monitor guests for signs of intoxication and follow responsible alcohol service laws
- Report maintenance issues, breakages, or safety hazards to management
Team & Admin:
- Attend pre-shift briefings and menu training sessions
- Assist other servers and bussers during peak time
- Restock service stations, cutlery, condiments, and napkins
- Complete side duties like polishing glassware, folding napkins, and closing checklists
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: 6+ months in hospitality preferred, but training provided for strong candidates
Skills:
- Excellent communication, multitasking under pressure, basic math for handling bills
Attributes:
- Professional appearance, positive attitude, stamina for long periods on feet, team player
Availability:
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
