Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and results-driven Freight Broker to manage the movement of freight between shippers and carriers. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing reliable carriers, negotiating freight rates, coordinating shipments, tracking loads, and ensuring timely delivery while maintaining strong relationships with customers and transportation partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and develop relationships with reliable freight carriers and transportation providers.
- Coordinate freight shipments from pickup through final delivery.
- Negotiate competitive rates with shippers and carriers to maximize margins.
- Obtain and verify carrier information, insurance, authority, and other required documentation.
- Match available loads with suitable carriers based on equipment, location, capacity, and delivery requirements.
- Communicate with shippers, carriers, drivers, and internal teams throughout the shipment process.
- Track shipments and provide timely status updates to customers.
- Handle delays, cancellations, claims, and other transportation-related issues.
- Maintain accurate records of loads, rates, carrier information, and customer communications.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with both customers and carriers.
- Monitor market conditions, lane rates, capacity, and freight trends.
- Ensure all shipments comply with company policies and applicable transportation regulations.
- Follow up on paperwork, Proof of Delivery (POD), invoices, and other required documents.
- Meet or exceed assigned sales, revenue, margin, and load-booking targets.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, or a related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in freight brokerage, logistics, transportation, or sales preferred.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Excellent customer service and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Good knowledge of freight transportation, lanes, equipment types, and carrier operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace and transportation management or freight brokerage software.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with load boards and freight management/TMS systems.
- Knowledge of North American freight markets and major trucking lanes.
- Experience negotiating carrier and customer rates.
- Strong sales and business-development skills.
- Existing carrier/customer network is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and achieve performance targets.
Compensation
Salary: Competitive salary + performance-based incentives/commission.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹65,000.00 per month
