We are seeking a skilled and proactive Linux Specialist with minimum 2+ years of experience in Linux administration and infrastructure support. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring client infrastructure, troubleshooting incidents, supporting Linux-based environments, and ensuring smooth operational continuity across enterprise systems and services.
- Monitors client infrastructure, Linux servers, and enterprise solutions to ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency.
- Identifies problems and errors prior to or when they occur and takes proactive measures for issue prevention.
- Routinely identifies common incidents and opportunities for incident reduction, automation, and operational improvement.
- Investigates first line incidents assigned and identifies the root cause of incidents and problems.
- Provides telephonic, email, or chat support to clients when required.
- Ensures efficient and comprehensive resolution of incidents and service requests within defined SLA timelines.
- Reports and escalates incidents where necessary.
- Follows the required handover procedures for shift changes to ensure service continuity in a 24x7 environment.
- Schedules maintenance activity windows for Linux patching, upgrades, and configuration changes.
- Performs Linux server administration activities including user management, permission management, package installation, and system monitoring.
- Monitors CPU, memory, disk utilization, system logs, processes, and server performance for proactive issue detection.
- Troubleshoots Linux OS issues, services, networking, file systems, and server availability incidents.
- Supports shell scripting and automation tasks for operational efficiency and repetitive activities.
- Participates in disaster recovery activities, backup verification, and infrastructure health checks.
- Updates existing knowledge articles or creates new documentation, SOPs, and operational procedures.
- Identifies opportunities for work optimization including automation of incident resolution, request fulfilment, and process improvement initiatives.
- Supports project implementation and operational activities as and when required.
- Performs any other related operational or technical support tasks as required.
- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience in Linux Administration / Linux Support.
- Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems: RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu.
- Good understanding of Linux commands and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of user and permission management, file systems, process management, SSH, Crontab, and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with package management tools such as YUM/APT/RPM.
- Experience in Linux server monitoring and performance troubleshooting.
- Basic shell scripting / Bash scripting knowledge.
- Familiarity with monitoring and ticketing tools such as ServiceNow, Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds, and Splunk.
- Understanding of ITIL processes, incident management, and change management.
- Good communication and client handling skills.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts and handle critical incidents effectively.
- RHCSA certification preferred.
- Basic knowledge of VMware, AWS, or cloud infrastructure is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of backup, recovery, and security hardening concepts.
BE / B.Tech / BCA / MCA / Diploma in IT or equivalent qualification.
