Sales & Operations Manager – Healthcare & Medical Travel
Location: Hyderabad, Telangana
Company: Lagom Healthcare
Employment Type: Full-time
Experience: 3–7 years preferred
About Lagom Healthcare
Lagom Healthcare is building a trusted, patient-centric medical travel platform connecting international patients with high-quality healthcare in India.
Our goal is simple: make the journey from “I need medical care” to “I have received the right treatment in India” smooth, trustworthy and professionally managed.
We are looking for a hands-on Sales & Operations Manager based in Hyderabad who can help build and run this patient journey end-to-end.
This is an early-stage, high-ownership role. You will not simply be responsible for generating leads or making calls. You will be responsible for converting genuine healthcare enquiries into successful patient journeys and continuously improving the process.
The Role
As Sales & Operations Manager, you will own the movement of prospective patients through the Lagom funnel.
You will:
Generate and qualify opportunities → understand the patient's requirement → build trust → coordinate medical opinions → work with hospitals/doctors → prepare treatment options and estimates → coordinate travel and logistics → ensure the patient reaches treatment → maintain communication throughout the journey → follow up after treatment.
You will work closely with the founders, doctors, hospitals, international patients and service partners.
The ideal candidate is someone who can sell with empathy, negotiate commercially, organise complex operations and take ownership when things go wrong.
Key Responsibilities1. Lead Management & Sales
- Respond quickly and professionally to incoming international patient enquiries.
- Understand the patient's medical requirement, urgency, budget and expectations.
- Qualify leads and distinguish genuine patients from low-intent enquiries.
- Conduct calls and WhatsApp conversations with patients and families.
- Build trust with patients who may be anxious about travelling to another country for treatment.
- Explain Lagom's value proposition clearly.
- Move qualified leads toward medical evaluation and treatment planning.
- Maintain disciplined follow-up until a lead is converted, lost or clearly disqualified.
- Maintain accurate CRM/pipeline information.
- Track conversion rates and identify where prospective patients are dropping out.
2. Patient Coordination
Once a patient is seriously considering treatment in India, you will become the primary coordinator.
This may include:
- Collecting medical records and relevant documents.
- Coordinating with doctors and hospitals for opinions.
- Obtaining treatment plans, quotations and timelines.
- Communicating medical information back to patients in a clear, non-technical manner.
- Coordinating second opinions where appropriate.
- Helping patients understand the practical implications of different treatment options.
- Coordinating appointments and hospital visits.
- Keeping the patient and family updated at every important stage.
You are not expected to provide medical advice. Your role is to coordinate the medical process and ensure that the patient receives the right information from qualified doctors.
3. Hospital & Doctor Coordination
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with:
- Hospitals
- Doctors
- International patient departments
- Hospital coordinators
- Diagnostic centres
- Travel and accommodation partners
- Other healthcare service providers
Responsibilities include:
- Identifying appropriate doctors/hospitals for specific patient requirements.
- Coordinating consultations and treatment plans.
- Negotiating commercial terms where appropriate.
- Ensuring quotations and information are received on time.
- Building a reliable network of healthcare partners.
- Maintaining a database of doctors, specialties, hospitals and treatment capabilities.
- Continuously evaluating which partners provide the best patient experience.
4. Treatment & Travel Operations
Coordinate the practical side of the patient's journey, including where required:
- Appointment scheduling
- Hospital admission coordination
- Airport/transport coordination
- Accommodation
- Local transportation
- Visa/documentation coordination through appropriate partners
- Interpreter/language support
- Family requirements
- Treatment-related logistics
- Discharge and post-treatment coordination
The objective is to ensure that nothing falls through the cracks.
5. Patient Experience
The patient's experience is one of Lagom's most important assets.
You will be expected to:
- Maintain regular communication with patients and families.
- Anticipate problems before they occur.
- Handle complaints and difficult situations calmly.
- Coordinate solutions quickly.
- Ensure patients know what happens next.
- Collect patient feedback after treatment.
- Help build testimonials, referrals and repeat international patient relationships.
6. Business Development
Over time, the role will also involve developing new sources of patients and referral relationships.
This could include:
- International patient referral networks
- Doctors and clinics outside India
- Corporate/institutional relationships
- Community networks
- Digital leads
- Strategic partnerships
- Healthcare and medical-travel intermediaries
You should be comfortable picking up the phone, starting conversations and building relationships from scratch.
7. Process Building & Reporting
Because Lagom is building a scalable business, you will also help create the operating system behind it.
You will be expected to:
- Develop and improve SOPs.
- Build repeatable patient-handling processes.
- Maintain lead and patient databases.
- Track pipeline stages.
- Monitor response times and conversion rates.
- Track patient journey milestones.
- Identify operational bottlenecks.
- Create simple weekly reports on sales and operations.
- Suggest improvements rather than waiting for instructions.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a high-energy, responsible and commercially minded operator, not someone who only wants a predefined job description.
The ideal candidate:
- Has 3–7 years of experience in sales, business development, healthcare operations, hospitality, medical tourism, international patient services, or a similar relationship-driven business.
- Is comfortable speaking to customers on the phone and WhatsApp.
- Is confident communicating with senior doctors and hospital management.
- Has strong follow-up discipline.
- Can negotiate without damaging relationships.
- Is highly organised.
- Can manage multiple patients/opportunities simultaneously.
- Is comfortable working with spreadsheets, CRM systems and basic reporting.
- Can work independently with limited supervision.
- Has strong English communication skills.
- Is comfortable dealing with people from different countries and cultures.
- Has empathy and patience when dealing with patients and families.
- Has a strong sense of urgency.
- Takes ownership of problems instead of passing them to someone else.
Particularly valuable:
- Experience in medical tourism / international patient departments.
- Existing relationships with hospitals or doctors in India.
- Experience dealing with patients from the Middle East, Africa or other international markets.
- Arabic or another international language.
- Experience in healthcare sales.
- Experience in a startup or entrepreneurial environment.
The Personality We Want
The right person should be:
Salesperson + Relationship Manager + Operations Manager + Problem Solver
They should be the kind of person who, when a patient says:
“I want to come to India for treatment. What do I do next?”
can take ownership of the situation and figure out the answer.
They should be comfortable with ambiguity and should not need every step of their job to be explained.
We value ownership, speed, integrity, empathy and execution more than impressive job titles.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 3–6 months, the successful candidate should be able to:
- Independently manage qualified patient enquiries.
- Maintain a clean and active sales pipeline.
- Improve lead-to-consultation and consultation-to-treatment conversion.
- Build productive relationships with key hospitals and doctors.
- Coordinate patient journeys with minimal supervision.
- Establish repeatable SOPs for patient handling.
- Reduce response and follow-up delays.
- Create a reliable network of healthcare and operational partners.
- Contribute directly to Lagom's revenue growth.
- Help turn successful patients into testimonials and referrals.
Ultimately, success means:
More genuine patients choosing Lagom, fewer patients getting lost in the process, smoother treatment journeys and a repeatable medical-travel business.
Compensation
Competitive fixed salary + performance-linked incentives.
The variable component will be linked to measurable outcomes such as qualified lead conversion, successful patient journeys and business revenue.

This is an opportunity to join at an early stage and help build the operating engine of a healthcare business rather than simply execute an existing process.
You will have significant responsibility and direct exposure to:
- International patients

- Healthcare partnerships

- Strategy
If you are someone who enjoys building, selling, solving problems and taking ownership, this role offers the opportunity to play a significant part in building Lagom's healthcare business.
