- B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Metallurgy, or Industrial Engineering.
- NDT Level II or Welding Inspection Certification will be an added advantage.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Quality Control (QC) Engineer with experience in the inspection and quality assurance of pharmaceutical process equipment. The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of stainless steel fabrication, machining, welding, pressure testing, documentation, and quality systems applicable to pharmaceutical equipment manufacturing. The candidate will be responsible for Incoming, In-Process, and Final Quality Control activities, ensuring compliance with GMP, ISO, ASME, and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Incoming Quality Control (IQC)
- Inspect incoming raw materials, purchased components, and fabricated parts.
- Verify Material Test Certificates (MTCs), supplier documents, and material traceability.
- Ensure materials comply with approved specifications and purchase requirements.
- Coordinate with suppliers to resolve incoming material quality issues.
In-Process Quality Control (IPQC)
- Perform stage-wise inspections during fabrication, machining, welding, polishing, and assembly.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, weld quality, and surface finish as per approved drawings.
- Inspect stainless steel fabrication to ensure compliance with customer specifications and project requirements.
- Monitor workmanship and identify manufacturing non-conformities.
Final Quality Control (FQC)
- Conduct final inspection of completed pharmaceutical equipment before dispatch.
- Verify equipment dimensions, fitment, surface finish, labeling, and documentation.
- Witness hydrostatic, pneumatic, leak, pressure, and functional tests.
- Ensure all quality requirements are fulfilled prior to shipment.
Inspection & Testing
- Perform dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments.
- Carry out visual inspection of welds and fabricated assemblies.
- Coordinate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities such as Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT) and other approved inspection methods.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), customer inspections, and third-party inspections.
Documentation & Quality Records
- Prepare inspection reports, quality records, inspection release notes, and quality dossiers.
- Maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), QC checklists, and inspection logs.
- Review welding records, calibration certificates, and inspection documentation.
- Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and monitor corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure complete documentation is available before equipment dispatch.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate closely with Production, Design, Projects, Procurement, and QA departments.
- Support manufacturing teams by identifying quality concerns and recommending corrective actions.
- Assist service and commissioning teams by providing quality documentation whenever required.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of fabrication, machining, welding, polishing, and mechanical assembly inspection.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, P&IDs, and General Arrangement (GA) drawings.
- Knowledge of stainless steel (SS304 & SS316L) fabrication and pharmaceutical equipment manufacturing.
- Familiarity with GMP, ISO 9001, ASME, and customer quality standards.
- Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments, including:
- Vernier Caliper
- Micrometer
- Height Gauge
- Dial Indicator
- Bore Gauge
- Surface Roughness Tester (preferred)
- Basic knowledge of welding inspection and NDT techniques.
- Good documentation and report-writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
Preferred Experience
- Pharmaceutical process equipment manufacturing.
- Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Site Acceptance Test (SAT), and customer inspections.
- Stainless steel process vessels, process skids, and clean process equipment.
- Surface finish inspection and sanitary equipment quality requirements.

Experience in inspection and quality control of the following equipment will be preferred:
