Job Summary
The Primary Computer Science Teacher is responsible for introducing students to fundamental computer concepts, digital literacy, and basic coding skills in an engaging and age-appropriate manner. The teacher will create an interactive learning environment that promotes creativity, critical thinking, and responsible use of technology.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver Computer Science lessons for primary school students as per the curriculum.
- Introduce basic computer operations, digital literacy, typing skills, and coding concepts.
- Teach students the safe and responsible use of computers and the internet.
- Develop engaging classroom activities, projects, and practical exercises.
- Encourage creativity through educational technology tools and applications.
- Integrate technology into learning activities to enhance student engagement.
Student Assessment
- Assess student learning through assignments, projects, practical activities, and tests.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and parents regarding academic development.
- Identify and support students requiring additional assistance.
Classroom Management
- Maintain discipline and ensure a positive learning environment.
- Ensure proper use and care of computer laboratory equipment and resources.
- Promote teamwork, collaboration, and digital citizenship among students.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Prepare lesson plans, worksheets, and teaching materials.
- Maintain student attendance and academic records.
- Participate in staff meetings, training programs, workshops, and school events.
- Support school activities, competitions, exhibitions, and technology-related programs.
Computer Lab Management
- Monitor the functioning of computers and related equipment.
- Report technical issues to the IT department.
- Ensure laboratory safety and adherence to school policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, or a related field.
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification preferred.
- Certification in computer education or coding programs will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 1–3 years of teaching experience in Computer Science or related subjects preferred.
- Freshers with strong subject knowledge and teaching aptitude may also apply.
Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of basic computer applications and digital tools.
- Familiarity with coding platforms suitable for primary students (Scratch, Blockly, etc.).
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to simplify technical concepts for young learners.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for teaching and technology integration.
