The Engineer, Data Operations (DataOps) supports the reliability, quality, governance, and operational effectiveness of the enterprise Snowflake data platform. This role contributes to the implementation and maintenance of DataOps processes, automated testing, monitoring, deployment pipelines, and governance controls. Working under general guidance, the Engineer applies established practices to support data product delivery and platform operations while developing deeper expertise in DataOps engineering.
Support implementation of data contracts, schema standards, and release procedures for batch and streaming data products.
Participate in validation of schema changes and assist with impact assessments.
Maintain documentation related to data products, SLAs, and operational procedures.
Contribute to Git-based deployment pipelines for Snowflake and dbt assets.
Implement and maintain automated testing for data transformations and data quality checks.
Support promotion of code and configuration across development, testing, and production environments.
Monitor scheduled data pipelines and investigate operational issues.
Assist with implementation and maintenance of orchestration workflows using approved tools.
Support execution of operational runbooks and recovery procedures.
Develop and maintain data quality tests and monitoring dashboards.
Investigate anomalies and participate in issue resolution activities.
Assist with alert configuration and operational reporting.
Implement established governance controls including tagging, masking, and role-based access assignments.
Support lineage documentation and metadata management activities.
Assist with audit evidence collection and compliance reviews.
Participate in on-call support and incident response activities.
Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to root cause analysis documentation.
Implement corrective actions under guidance of senior team members.
Monitor warehouse utilization and query performance metrics.
Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
Support implementation of cost management controls.
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field.
2–4 years of data engineering, analytics engineering, or platform operations experience.
Experience with Snowflake, SQL, and data transformation frameworks.
Exposure to Git-based development practices.
Familiarity with data quality concepts and cloud data platforms.
Experience with dbt and Terraform.
Exposure to orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster.
Experience supporting production data environments.
Familiarity with governance and data catalog technologies.
