*Executive Chef – Chennai’s Newest Beach Facing Cafe*
Chennai’s newest beach facing cafe is hiring an *Executive Chef* to lead the kitchen and build the food direction of the brand from the beginning.
We are looking for a chef with strong experience in *cafe food, continental cuisine, comfort food, breakfast, brunch, small plates, desserts, sauces, and modern plated dishes*.
The ideal candidate should have around *15+ years of overall kitchen experience, with strong exposure to **menu planning, recipe development, kitchen operations, food costing, inventory, vendor management, team training, hygiene, and quality control*.
This role is for someone who can think like a chef, not just a kitchen manager. We want someone who can bring new ideas, create signature dishes, improve menus, and give the food its own identity.
You should be able to balance creativity with kitchen discipline, service speed, portion control, consistency, and profitability.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Lead daily kitchen operations and service flow
* Create and improve menu items, signature dishes, and seasonal specials
* Develop recipes, SOPs, plating standards, prep systems, and kitchen workflows
* Maintain consistency in taste, quality, portioning, and presentation
* Train, guide, and manage the kitchen team
* Handle food costing, wastage control, inventory, stock movement, and vendor quality
* Maintain hygiene, cleanliness, food safety, FSSAI standards, and kitchen discipline
* Work with management on menu development, pricing, product trials, and kitchen improvements
*Requirements*
* Around *15+ years of kitchen experience* preferred
* Experience as an Executive Chef, Head Chef, Senior Sous Chef, or similar senior kitchen role
* Strong background in cafes, restaurants, hotels, premium casual dining, or standalone food concepts
* Hands-on knowledge of continental food, cafe food, breakfast, brunch, comfort food, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, small plates, desserts, sauces, and global flavours
* Ability to create original dishes and bring fresh ideas to the menu
* Strong leadership, team training, and kitchen management skills
* Good understanding of food costing, portioning, inventory, vendor management, hygiene, and kitchen planning
* Ability to manage pressure during busy service and maintain consistency at scale

* Experience launching or setting up a new cafe or restaurant kitchen
* Ability to build a menu from scratch
* Strong plating and presentation sense
* Awareness of current food trends and customer preferences
* Experience with brunch menus, desserts, baking, beverages, sauces, or seasonal specials
* Tamil, Hindi, or English communication skills will be an added advantage

₹70,000 – ₹1,00,000 per month, based on experience and capability.
