Roles & Responsibilities
- Operate and set VMC machines for precision machining of components.
- Set up jobs according to production drawings, process sheets and work instructions.
- Load and unload raw materials and components safely.
- Perform tool setting, tool changes and offset corrections.
- Read and understand engineering drawings and dimensional specifications.
- Check job dimensions during machining using Vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge and other measuring instruments.
- Monitor machining operations and make necessary corrections to maintain component accuracy.
- Understand and perform basic G-code and M-code corrections.
- Select appropriate cutting tools and machining parameters as per the job requirement.
- Ensure proper fixture/work-holding arrangement and job alignment.
- Conduct first-piece and in-process inspection.
- Maintain production records, tool-life records and inspection reports.
- Identify machining defects and inform the supervisor/quality team.
- Maintain machine cleanliness, lubrication and basic preventive-maintenance activities.
- Follow 5S, safety procedures and quality standards on the shop floor.
- Achieve daily production targets while maintaining required quality.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality and Engineering teams for process-related issues.
Skills Required
Mandatory:
- VMC machine operation
- Basic VMC setting
- Tool setting & offset correction
- Engineering drawing reading
- Vernier & micrometer usage
- Basic knowledge of cutting tools
- Basic G-code / M-code knowledge
Preferred:
- FANUC controller experience
- GD&T knowledge
- CNC/VMC programming
- CNC machining of jigs, fixtures, pallets or precision components
- Knowledge of cutting parameters
- Basic machine troubleshooting
