Job Title: Special Educator

Working Hours: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Working Days: Monday to Saturday
Reporting To: Centre Head / Clinical Coordinator / Rehab Team Lead
Role Purpose
The Special Educator will assess, plan, and deliver individualized educational and developmental intervention for children with special needs in a multidisciplinary rehabilitation setting. The role typically includes designing individualized plans, adapting teaching strategies, tracking progress, and coordinating with families and therapists to support each child’s communication, learning, behaviour, and daily functioning.cbmindia+1
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct developmental, functional, and educational assessment of children with special needs and identify individualized goals.cbmindia
- Prepare and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEP) / intervention plans based on the child’s strengths, needs, and functional priorities.cbmindia
- Deliver one-to-one and group sessions for children with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, learning difficulties, ADHD, cerebral palsy, and related conditions as applicable to the centre’s services.hopeforspecial+1
- Adapt learning materials, activities, and teaching strategies according to the child’s age, developmental level, sensory needs, and behavioural profile.cbmindia
- Work on communication readiness, pre-academic skills, cognitive skills, social interaction, play skills, behaviour regulation, school readiness, and activities of daily living based on case needs.ijip+1
- Maintain assessment records, session notes, progress reports, home program records, and other clinical documentation accurately and on time.cbmindia
- Counsel and guide parents/caregivers on home training, behaviour handling, carryover activities, and realistic goal setting.cbmindia
- Coordinate closely with speech therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, doctors, and other team members for integrated intervention planning.ijip+1
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, review meetings, and goal revision sessions.cbmindia
- Support school integration/inclusion planning wherever applicable by preparing recommendations, accommodations, and parent guidance for school follow-up.cbmindia
- Monitor child safety, emotional well-being, and confidentiality standards during all sessions and interactions.cbmindia
- Assist in awareness programs, parent education sessions, camps, workshops, and centre-based developmental initiatives.cbmindia
- Perform other duties assigned by the reporting manager in line with child development and rehabilitation services.cbmindia
Qualification and Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Special Education from an RCI-recognized institution, such as B.Ed. Special Education or D.Ed. Special Education in relevant disability categories.nielit.gov+1
- Valid RCI registration preferred; where mandated by role policy or practice requirements, RCI registration should be compulsory.nielit.gov+2
- Experience of 1 to 3 years in a child development centre, rehabilitation centre, special school, hospital-based program, or inclusive education setting is preferred.cbmindia
- Freshers with strong internship exposure and good practical skills may be considered for junior positions, depending on centre requirements.cbmindia
Skills Required
- Good knowledge of special education methods, IEP preparation, behavioural support, and child-centred teaching practices.cbmindia
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary rehabilitation environment with therapists and families.ijip+1
- Strong observation, documentation, planning, and time management skills.cbmindia
- Good communication skills in English and Tamil for professional interaction with parents and team members.
- Patience, empathy, professionalism, and child-friendly handling skills are important for this role.cbmindia
- Basic computer knowledge for report writing, record maintenance, and communication is expected.
Preferred Profile
- Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, developmental delay, ADHD, learning disability, or multiple disabilities is desirable.hopeforspecial+1
- Exposure to hospital, rehab, or clinical team coordination is an added advantage.cbmindia

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
