An ETP & RO Plant Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining water treatment systems such as the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant to ensure safe water treatment and compliance with standards.
Main Job Responsibilities1. Plant Operation
- Start, stop, and run ETP & RO plant equipment safely.
- Monitor pumps, motors, blowers, filters, dosing systems, and valves.
- Maintain proper water flow, pressure, and treatment cycles.
2. Water Quality Monitoring
- Check parameters such as:
- pH
- TDS
- Hardness
- Turbidity
- Chlorine
- Conductivity
- Collect water samples and send them to the lab if required.
3. Chemical Dosing
- Prepare and add chemicals like:
- Alum
- Chlorine
- Antiscalant
- Caustic / Acid
- Ensure correct dosing as per process requirement.
4. Maintenance Work
- Clean filters, membranes, tanks, and pipelines.
- Replace cartridges, membranes, valves, or faulty parts.
- Report breakdowns to maintenance team.
5. Record Keeping
- Maintain daily logbook of:
- Plant running hours
- Water production
- Chemical consumption
- Meter readings
- Maintenance activities
6. Safety & Compliance
- Follow PPE and safety rules.
- Handle chemicals carefully.
- Ensure treated water meets environmental norms.
7. Troubleshooting
- Identify problems like:
- Low pressure
- High TDS
- Leakage
- Pump failure
- Membrane choking
- Take corrective action quickly.
