Job Summary
The Accounts Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, statutory compliance, budgeting support, cash flow management, and internal financial controls. The role ensures that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and that the organization complies with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Accounting
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations.
- Ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
- Review and approve journal entries, ledgers, and reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Monitor the general ledger and maintain accounting accuracy.
Accounts Receivable
- Monitor customer outstanding balances.
- Review ageing reports and follow up on collections.
- Coordinate with the operations and sales teams to resolve payment issues.
- Ensure timely invoicing and receipt allocation.
Accounts Payable
- Review supplier invoices before payment.
- Ensure payments are processed within agreed credit terms.
- Monitor vendor balances and reconcile supplier statements.
- Verify payment vouchers and supporting documents.
Banking & Cash Management
- Monitor daily cash flow.
- Prepare bank reconciliations.
- Manage fund transfers, GIRO, and online banking transactions.
- Coordinate with banks regarding facilities and banking matters.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
- Assist in preparing annual budgets.
- Monitor departmental expenditure against budgets.
- Prepare financial analysis and management reports.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities.
Statutory Compliance
- Ensure timely filing of GST/VAT returns.
- Ensure CPF, SDL, tax, and other statutory submissions are completed on time.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants.
- Ensure compliance with local accounting standards and statutory regulations.
Payroll Support
- Review payroll before salary processing.
- Verify statutory deductions.
- Coordinate payroll-related accounting entries.
Internal Controls
- Implement and maintain internal financial controls.
- Ensure compliance with company policies.
- Monitor approval limits and authorization procedures.
- Support internal and external audits.
Team Management
- Supervise the Accounts team.
- Allocate work and monitor performance.
- Train and mentor team members.
- Conduct performance reviews.
Reporting
- Prepare management reports on:
- Cash Flow
- Profit & Loss
- Balance Sheet
- Accounts Receivable Ageing
- Accounts Payable Ageing
- Budget Variance
- Outstanding Collections
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualification (CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of accounting experience.
- At least 2–3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
Skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
- Knowledge of GST, tax, CPF, and statutory compliance.
- Financial reporting and budgeting skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- ERP system experience.
