We are looking for a driven and experienced Business Development Lead - Upwork & Digital Growth with strong hands-on experience in generating international business through Upwork and other online bidding platforms.
This role is for someone who understands Upwork beyond basic bidding including profile visibility, job selection, proposal quality, client behaviour, replies, follow-ups, and conversions.
The person will be responsible for generating business opportunities, handling client communication, taking pre-sales calls, preparing proposals, guiding the BDE team, and improving overall lead quality and conversion rates.
The candidate should have a good understanding of web and digital marketing services such as website design, web development ( CMS platforms), CRO, SEO, paid ads and social media marketing

Generate business opportunities through Upwork and other online bidding platforms.

Optimize Upwork profiles, titles, descriptions, portfolios, skills, and service positioning.

Shortlist the right jobs based on client quality, budget, project fit, reply chances, and long-term potential.

Draft professional, persuasive, and customized proposals/messages.

Review and improve proposals written by the BDE team.

Handle client replies, follow-ups, and written sales communication.

Take pre-sales and requirement-gathering calls with international clients.

Understand client requirements, pain points, and business goals.

Coordinate with internal teams for project scope, estimates, timelines, and technical inputs.

Prepare project estimates, formal proposals, scope documents, decks, and follow-up plans when required.

Identify opportunities in web development, CRO, SEO, PPC, paid ads, social media marketing, CMS, and related services.

Lead, guide, and mentor the BDE team to improve job selection, proposal quality, follow-ups, and conversions.

Track daily team activity, bids, replies, calls, follow-ups, pipeline, and monthly performance.

Help the team work with discipline, clarity, ownership, and proper follow-through.

4 - 5 years of experience in business development, Upwork bidding, or online lead generation.

Strong practical knowledge of Upwork, including profile optimization, job search, bidding, and client communication.

Experience in generating international business through Upwork or similar platforms.

Experience in leading, guiding, or mentoring a BDE team.

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Strong client communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Confident in handling international pre-sales calls independently.

Strong understanding of proposal writing and written sales communication.

Good understanding of digital marketing, CRO, SEO, PPC, paid ads, social media marketing, and website-related services.

Experience with website design, website development, Shopify, WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace, landing pages, and CMS-based projects.

Exposure to retainer-based projects and long-term client accounts.

Experience in preparing proposals, decks, scope documents, estimates, or client-facing presentations.

Experience working in an IT company, digital marketing agency, web solutions company, or digital agency setup.

Target-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced agency environment.

Experience with LinkedIn outreach or other business generation channels.

Exposure to other portals apart from Upwork.
