Job Description – Estimation Engineer (Electrical Panels)
Location: Guindy, Chennai
Experience: 3–8 Years
Working Days: 6 Days a Week (Monday – Saturday)
Industry: Electrical Panel Manufacturing / Engineering
Position Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and commercially aware Estimation Engineer to prepare accurate, competitive, and technically compliant cost estimates for LT, HT, Specialized, and Marine Electrical Panels. The candidate will play a key role in tender evaluation, costing, vendor coordination, and supporting the sales and design teams during the pre-order stage.
Key Responsibilities
1. Estimation & Costing
- Prepare detailed techno-commercial estimates based on SLDs, BOQs, GA drawings, and customer specifications
- Perform accurate material take-off and BOM preparation for electrical panels
- Estimate material, labor, manufacturing, and overhead costs for projects
- Ensure cost estimates are aligned with technical and commercial requirements
2. Vendor Coordination & Cost Optimization
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for component pricing and technical details
- Compare vendor quotations and identify cost-effective sourcing options
- Support cost optimization initiatives while maintaining quality and compliance standards
3. Tender & Proposal Support
- Prepare tender costing and commercial inputs for proposals and bid submissions
- Analyze RFQs, tender documents, and customer specifications
- Coordinate with Design, Sales, Procurement, and Production teams for technical clarifications
4. Commercial & Technical Evaluation
- Evaluate project risks, costing variations, and margin impacts
- Support margin analysis and profitability improvement initiatives
- Maintain estimation records, costing databases, and historical project data
5. Post-Order Support
- Provide estimation support during project execution and handover
- Assist in post-order cost tracking and variance analysis
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure alignment between estimated and actual costs
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of LT/HT electrical panels and panel components
- Hands-on experience in BOM preparation and panel costing
- Good understanding of electrical drawings, SLDs, and technical specifications
- Strong commercial awareness and cost analysis capability
- Excellent proficiency in MS Excel and estimation tools
- Knowledge of major panel component brands and vendors
- Good coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- Diploma / BE in Electrical Engineering
Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in electrical panel estimation and costing
- Experience in tender costing, techno-commercial evaluation, and BOM analysis preferred
- Exposure to LT/HT/Specialized/Marine panel projects will be an added advantage
