About the Role
We are looking for a Software Engineer III with strong experience in IBM Cognos and modern data engineering to support existing enterprise reporting while helping modernize reporting capabilities toward Databricks and cloud-based analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and support IBM Cognos reports, dashboards, and Framework Manager models.
- Build and optimize SQL queries for enterprise-scale data.
- Develop data pipelines using Python, PySpark, and Databricks.
- Build Databricks SQL dashboards and visualizations.
- Support Cognos modernization and migration to modern cloud analytics platforms.
- Work with data engineers, architects, product teams, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable analytics solutions.
- Troubleshoot production issues and ensure data quality, performance, and reporting reliability.
Required Skills
- 5+ years in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, BI, or Analytics Development.
- 3+ years hands-on IBM Cognos experience.
- Strong Cognos Framework Manager, reporting, and dashboard development experience.
- Strong SQL and query optimization skills.
- Strong Python with hands-on PySpark/Apache Spark experience.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks / Databricks SQL.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT, data warehousing, and dimensional modeling.
- Experience with Git/GitHub.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Good to Have
- Experience with Cognos-to-Databricks/cloud analytics migration.
- Snowflake / Delta Lake experience.
- Exposure to AWS/Azure, Airflow, REST APIs, CI/CD.
- Knowledge of data governance and data quality.
Key requirement: We are looking for someone who can bridge Cognos with modern Databricks-based data and analytics, not a pure Cognos or pure Databricks profile.
