Role Purpose
The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for driving module sales, expanding the channel network, and developing the distributor network in the assigned territory. The role focuses on revenue generation, market penetration, partner development and distributor relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
Distributor Appointment
- Identify, evaluate, pitch and appoint new distributors in the assigned territory
- Activate newly appointed distributors and ramp them to productivity quickly
Distributor Management & Sales
- Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets for solar modules
- Drive primary and secondary sales through the distributor network
- Ensure distributor productivity, stock planning and repeat business
Market Development - Rooftop Segment
- Develop relationships with Distributor linked-EPC contractors, project developers and C&I rooftop clients
- Identify large project opportunities and support techno-commercial discussions
Channel Governance & Forecasting
- Manage distributor agreements and channel-conflict resolution
- Maintain sales forecasting and demand planning for the territory
Market Intelligence
- Track competitor pricing, product positioning and channel schemes
- Provide market feedback on demand trends and new opportunities
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with technical support, supply chain & logistics, finance (collections & credit limits) and marketing
Sales Operations & Reporting
- Support with data for MIS reports
- Monitor inventory movement and demand planning
Candidate Requirements
Educational Qualifications
- Graduate in any discipline (required)
- Engineering (Diploma / B. Tech) or MBA / PGDM in Sales / Marketing preferred
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in channel / distribution sales in solar or related industry (e.g. electrical goods, inverter / battery, etc.)
- Solar product knowledge (modules, kW sizing, net metering, subsidy schemes)
- Proven track record of appointing and managing distributors
- Good communication and negotiation skills
- Strong local market network and deep territory knowledge
- Working knowledge of MS Excel preferred
