We are seeking a skilled Mechanic Fitter cum Welder with a background in the automobile industry, specifically within specialized vehicle fabrication. You will be responsible for the assembly, fitting, and structural welding of chassis components, water tanks, and bodywork for emergency vehicles. The ideal candidate understands that in fire truck fabrication, there is zero room for error—every weld and bolt must meet life-saving standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fabrication & Welding
- Perform high-quality MIG/MAG or TIG welding on various metals, including carbon steel, stainless steel (for water tanks), and aluminum (for bodywork).
- Read and interpret technical blueprints and engineering drawings to execute precise cuts and joins.
- Fabricate specialized brackets, compartments, and structural supports tailored for firefighting equipment.
2. Mechanical Fitting
- Assemble and align mechanical components onto the truck chassis, including PTO (Power Take-Off) units and pump systems.
- Fit and install hydraulic piping and pneumatic systems required for ladder operations or monitor controls.
- Ensure all moving parts, such as roller shutters and rotating platforms, are fitted with tight tolerances.
3. Quality & Safety Compliance
- Conduct leak tests on fabricated tanks and high-pressure manifold systems.
- Ensure all fabrications meet automotive safety standards and ISO certifications.
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace, adhering to PPE requirements at all times.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 1–3 years in automotive fabrication, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked on Fire Tenders, Ambulances, or Heavy Recovery Vehicles.
- Technical Proficiency: * Expertise in Arc, MIG, and TIG welding positions.
- Proficiency in using plasma cutters, grinders, and lathe machines.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools (verniers, calipers).
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of vehicle chassis geometry and the corrosive properties of firefighting foams/chemicals on different metals.
- Certifications: Valid welding certification (e.g., AWS or equivalent) is a significant plus.
Physical Requirements & Soft Skills
- Detail Oriented: A "near enough is good enough" attitude doesn't work when building life-saving equipment.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in confined spaces (inside tanks) or at heights (on top of chassis) for extended periods.
- Problem Solver: Ability to troubleshoot fitment issues on the fly during the prototype phase.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary based on technical expertise.
- Opportunity to work on complex, high-impact engineering projects.
- A collaborative environment where craftsmanship is valued.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
