Job Purpose
To create accurate, high-quality shop drawings and shell plans for aluminium formwork systems that ensure fast-cycle construction, safety, and cost-efficiency. The Junior Designer will transform architectural and structural drawings into a comprehensive formwork solution.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Detailing: Develop detailed 2D and 3D formwork layouts (shell plans, elevations, and sections) based on architectural and structural blueprints.
- BOM Generation: Prepare an accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and cutting lists for manufacturing, ensuring zero wastage.
- Conflict Resolution: Identify and resolve clashes between the formwork system and structural elements (e.g., MEP inserts, rebars).
- Standardization: Utilize standard panel sizes (e.g., 600mm width) whenever possible to maximize the repetition rate of the formwork.
- Modification Support: Assist in designing "non-standard" or "special" components for complex corners, wall-to-slab junctions, and stairs.
- Technical Documentation: Maintain organized design logs, revision histories, and project folders.
Technical Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Software Proficiency: * Expertise in AutoCAD (2D) is mandatory.
- Experience with 3D Modeling (Revit, Tekla, or specialized formwork software) is a major plus.
- Industry Knowledge: Basic understanding of concrete pressure, load-bearing capacities, and the 5-day to 7-day cycle construction methodology.
- Mathematical Skills: Strong command of geometry and trigonometry for calculating slopes, heights, and panel counts.
Core Competencies
- Attention to Detail: Precision is critical; a 5mm error in design can lead to major delays on-site.
- Problem Solving: Ability to visualize the assembly process and anticipate potential on-site challenges.
- Communication: Coordinate effectively with the sales team (to understand client needs) and the production team (to ensure manufacturability).
Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Design Accuracy: Minimal revisions required after senior review.
- Turnaround Time: Completion of shell plans within the agreed project timeline.
- Material Optimization: High ratio of standard components vs. expensive custom components.
