Education (preferred) • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information systems or equivalent experience. [About You] • Requires related experience in the design, maintenance, and administration of Postgres (Open Source, EDB and AWS Aurora). • Highly knowledgeable of Postgres architecture and Internals for all Postgres flavours (EBD and AWS Auroara). • Proficient with Postgresql installation and configuration, particularly Postgresql Plus Advanced Server from EnterpriseDB • Observability and Monitoring - Proficient with Postgresql monitoring and alerting tools/processes specifically PEM from EnterpriseDB. Knowledge of Splunk, Dynatrace and similar tools. • Experience in Postgres replication technologies. Proficient in setup, configuration and monitoring of Postgresql binary and logical data replication solutions (Binary Streaming, XDB and Bi-Directional Replication – BDR,..) • Proficient with collecting diagnostics and tuning Postgresql as well as SQL tuning • Proficient with Postgresql procedural languages (PL/pgSQL, PL/Tcl, PL/Perl, PL/Python) and SQL • Working knowledge of AWS Aurora. Install and configure Amazon Aurora instances. • Enforce database security policies including IAM roles, encryption, and auditing. • Set up proactive monitoring using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and custom alerts. • Excellent troubleshooting skills. • Perform debugging, tuning and performance enhancement as well as automation of operational and continuous integration aspect of the Postgres platforms. Can run EXPLAIN and do access path optimization. • Proficient with collecting diagnostics and tuning Postgres as well as SQL tuning • Proficient with the Linux operating system, specifically Oracle Linux Enterprise. • Implement and manage database version control using tools like Flyway. • Use AWS services like CloudFormation, Lambda, and CloudWatch for orchestration. • Integrate database operations with CI/CD pipelines using tools like Bitbucket, Github, Jenkins, XLR, CloudFormation, Terraform, and AWS Lambda. • Working knowledge of Data Modelling. • Strong knowledge of linux/unix environment. Working knowledge of scripting languages, Bash, ksh, perl etc. • Knowledge of ITSM process and tools (like Remedy). • Knowledge of other cloud-native and NoSQL database technologies, such Cassandra, and Redis is a bonus. • Uses strong verbal and written communication skills to build awareness and to proactively promote DBA’s position in support of sound database structures, data governance and other Corporate strategies.
