Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Logistic & Dispatch Head to lead transportation and logistics operations for a steel manufacturing plant. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring the movement of raw materials, billets, scrap, coal, ferro alloys, and finished products. The role focuses on ensuring uninterrupted material flow, optimum vehicle utilization, cost optimization, statutory compliance, and safe, timely deliveries.
Experience Required
- 8-15 years of experience in transport and logistics management.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Steel Manufacturing Plant (Rolling Mill, Integrated Steel Plant, Billet Plant, or Sponge Iron Plant).
- Hands-on experience in handling heavy commercial vehicles, bulk material transportation, and fleet operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage transportation of raw materials and finished goods efficiently.
- Plan and optimize fleet utilization and vehicle scheduling.
- Coordinate with procurement, production, dispatch, and stores departments.
- Monitor transport costs and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Ensure timely availability of vehicles for inbound and outbound logistics.
- Manage transport contractors, fleet vendors, and freight negotiations.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, permits, insurance, PUC, and road transport regulations.
- Monitor GPS tracking, trip management, fuel consumption, and vehicle performance.
- Ensure safe loading, unloading, and movement of materials.
- Prepare MIS reports on fleet utilization, transportation costs, turnaround time, and dispatch performance.
- Drive continuous improvement in logistics efficiency and service levels.
Educational Qualification
- Graduate in any discipline (MBA/PGDM in Logistics or Supply Chain preferred).
- Additional certification in Logistics, Transport Management, or Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.
