Role summary
We are seeking an experienced, self-driven Head — Business Development to lead client acquisition, strategic partnerships and revenue growth. This is a managerial role that requires building and running a sales & presales function, implementing disciplined processes, and working closely with design, delivery and marketing teams to convert opportunities into profitable projects. The right candidate will bring deep commercial interior design & build domain knowledge (office projects preferred), CRM expertise, and proven team leadership.
Key responsibilities
- Strategy & targets: Define and own BD strategy, annual revenue targets, sales funnel metrics, and go-to-market plans for office interior projects.
- Team leadership & hiring: Build, manage and mentor the BD team (BD managers, presales, proposal managers), set KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and ensure talent development.
- Process & systems: Design, implement and continuously improve sales processes (lead qualification, RFP/RFI response, pricing governance, contract handoffs), ensure CRM adoption and data hygiene, and define SOPs for cross-functional collaboration with design, delivery and procurement.
- Pipeline management: Own end-to-end pipeline — lead generation, client meetings, concept proposals, commercial negotiations, and deal closure. Maintain accurate forecast and conversion analytics.
- Client relationships: Develop and maintain C-level and stakeholder relationships across enterprises, developers, co-working operators and corporate real estate teams.
- Proposal & commercial structuring: Lead commercial modelling, pricing strategy, margin protection, risk identification and negotiation of commercial and contractual terms.
- Marketing & partnerships: Work with marketing to translate value propositions into targeted campaigns, represent Serein at industry events, and build vendor/consultant partnerships to expand reach.
- Quality & compliance: Ensure presales outputs (concepts, estimates, scope) are robust for seamless delivery and manage commercial handover to project teams.
- Analytics & reporting: Provide weekly and monthly sales reports, pipeline health dashboards and insights to the leadership team; recommend course corrections.
Must-have experience & skills
- 8+ years of experience in Business Development / Sales leadership in Commercial Interior Design & Build; strong preference for office design & build background.
- Proven managerial experience — have led and scaled BD/presales teams (not just individual contributor roles).
- Demonstrable track record of closing mid-to-large commercial interior projects and meeting revenue targets.
- Strong process orientation — experience designing and implementing sales workflows, SOPs and governance in design-build firms.
- Hands-on knowledge of CRMs and sales tools (HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho, Revit/BIM integration for presales is a plus), ability to select and drive best-practice tool adoption.
- Commercial acumen — pricing, margin management, contract negotiation and risk mitigation.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills; comfortable engaging with senior corporate real estate, founders, and procurement teams.
- Independent operator — ability to run BD function end-to-end with minimal supervision while collaborating cross-functionally.
- Strong presentation, proposal writing and pitch skills; able to oversee concept-to-commercial deliverables.
- Familiarity with procurement, vendor evaluation, and construction delivery constraints in the office-fitout domain.

Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹200,000.00 per month
