Role Overview
A Billing Engineer is responsible for preparing, verifying, and managing all billing-related activities for Railway projects, ensuring accuracy in quantities, compliance with contracts, and timely payments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Measurement & Quantity Verification
- Record and verify site measurements
- Prepare Measurement Books (MB) as per project standards
- Cross-check quantities with drawings and BOQ (Bill of Quantities)
2. Billing & Invoicing
- Prepare RA Bills (Running Account Bills) for contractors and subcontractors
- Generate client bills as per contract terms
- Ensure all bills are backed by proper documentation and approvals
3. Contract Management
- Understand contract clauses (especially railway standards like Indian Railways guidelines)
- Prepare variations, extra items, and deviations from BOQ
4. Cost Control & Monitoring
- Monitor project costs vs budget
- Track material consumption and reconcile with billed quantities
- Identify discrepancies and control cost overruns
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain billing records, measurement sheets, and supporting documents
- Prepare billing reports, cost summaries, and MIS reports
- Coordinate with site engineers, planning team, and accounts
6. Client & Consultant Coordination
· Resolve billing disputes and clarifications
- Attend billing review meetings
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education
- B.E./B. Tech or Diploma in Civil Engineering
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of railway construction (track, bridges, signalling basics)
- Familiarity with BOQ, rate analysis, and contracts
- Software: MS Excel, AutoCAD; ERP tools (like SAP preferred)
Core Skills
- Strong numerical and analytical ability
- Attention to detail
- Good communication and negotiation skills
- Understanding of IRWCMS/Railway Billing Portal
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: Up to ₹600,000.00 per year
