OT Special Educator (Occupational Therapy – Special Education)
Job Summary
The OT Special Educator will work with children with special needs to develop, improve, and maintain daily living, sensory, motor, and functional skills. The role focuses on enhancing independence, academic readiness, social participation, and overall development through individualized occupational therapy interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess children with developmental delays, learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorders, and physical challenges
- Design and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and OT intervention programs
- Improve fine motor skills, gross motor coordination, sensory integration, handwriting, self-help, and classroom readiness
- Conduct one-on-one and small group therapy sessions
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, therapists, and school staff for holistic child development
- Maintain accurate assessment reports, progress notes, and therapy documentation
- Use adaptive tools, assistive devices, and play-based therapy techniques
- Guide parents on home programs and strategies for continuity of care
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy / Special Education
- Certification or registration with relevant OT council/authority
- Specialized training in pediatric occupational therapy (preferred)
