The Manager, Security Services supports the Director, Security Services in the development, implementation, and management of physical security programs designed to protect American Express facilities, employees, contractors, visitors, customers, and assets. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day security operations, managing contract security personnel, conducting investigations, supporting emergency response activities, and ensuring compliance with established security policies and procedures.
As a key member of the security leadership team, the Manager serves as a trusted advisor to business leaders and stakeholders on security-related matters and may act on behalf of the Director, Security Services during emergencies or in their absence. The position requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to make timely decisions in a dynamic environment. This role is on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Thorough understanding of physical security operations, access control systems, investigations, security technologies, and emergency response procedures.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing security operations and contract security personnel.
- Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess situations quickly and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with all levels of management and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to build strong partnerships with business leaders, Facilities teams, law enforcement agencies, and other key stakeholders.
- Ability to influence and gain support for security policies, procedures, and emergency preparedness initiatives.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment during emergencies and other high-risk situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in corporate security, law enforcement, military, investigations, executive protection, or a related field.
- Experience conducting workplace violence investigations and threat assessments.
- Professional security certifications
Additional Requirements
- Availability to respond to security incidents and emergencies on a 24/7/365 basis.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Must be capable of operating independently and making critical decisions in the absence of the Director, Security Services or other members of the Global Security leadership team.
